Tuesday (not Thursday Yet)

Well, two days to go before my trip.

I just found out on Monday that Publix had its Fruit Salad on sale at Buy 1, Get 1 pricing. I picked some up on the way home from Dinner at Texas de Brazil on Monday. I had two Bowls to start the day at the office.

The one in the picture was a small. I also ate a medium. They were sweet and delicious.

Over the weekend, when Loretta and I were driving around doing stuff, we stopped at Barry's on 44th Street so she could get some Smoked Fish for dinner. They had frozen Soups on sale for $2.99 each. I bought a Chicken Noodle and a Split Pea and left them in my refrigerator to defrost. I took the Chicken Noodle to work with me.

So I nuked the soup, broke it out and... disaster! This was clearly marked Chicken Noodle Soup, but it was missing two things: Chicken and Noodles. All there was in the broth were two pieces of carrot floating around, all lonely. I was hungry, and it was good broth, but I was disappointed.

I was going to have the Split Pea Soup for dinner, but I got a little nervous and decided to save that for tomorrow. I stopped at Albertson's to buy something.

The Catfish was good on Saturday, so I got a big honking one again. But then I cheated on the Vegetables.

It turns out that Albrtson's pre-makes what they call a 'Fajita Mix' -- It is cut up Onion, Red, Green and Yellow Peppers, Broccoli, Cauliflower, two different Squashes, Pea Pods, and maybe something else... all ready to go. It cost more than those vegetables should have cost, but it was all there.

So there's the Fajita Mix, Salsa, Diced Tomatoes, Garlic Paste, Canned Mushrooms, Pepper Rings, Hot Sauce, and the Mother of All Catfish. I wound up not using the Hot Sauce. After tossing it all in one pan, it was ready.

I really like Catfish. If I wasn't going away Thursday, I would make this every night for a week before I got tired of it.

Later, I had a Bowl of Watermelon.
