F. Conroy

I had read somewhere about Restaurante F. Conroy, and it seemed to have good bona fides, so I did some internet searching and found that I could make a reservation on atrapalo.pe, so I went for it.

Yolanda and I arrived a few minutes late. They took us to a table with a 'reserved' sign, and off we went.

I did the ordering. We shared three appetizers and one main dish. They started us with some bread and butter. Of all things, I ate two rolls.

Our first Appetizer were Scallops Parmesan.

Although the waiter claimed that they were covered with Parmesan Cheese, we both thought that it was different than the classic dish. Either way, it was delicious. I had to fight with Yolanda to eat my half of them.

Next up was the Octopus. It wouldn't be a meal without Octopus.

These were slices of Grilled Octopus on a bed of (I think) Mashed Potatoes. Again, wonderful, and again, I barely got to eat my half of the dish.

Completing our Seafood Appetizer Trilogy was the Rocoto Relleno con Camarones (Stuffed Pepper with Shrimp).

When someone brings you a Stuffed Pepper with a Shrimp crawling out of it, you need to take goofy pictures. This pepper (not spicy, surprisingly) was served with a pastel de papa (sort of a potato lasagna, but with just potatoes and cheese), and had some shrimp swimming inside of it. Delicious. I did the splitting on this one, so I was sure to get my half of the dish.

For our main dish, we went from the Sea to the Land and had them whip up a Lomo Saltado.

This is the classic Peruvian dish. It is a Beef Stir-Fry with Onions and Tomatoes. It is normally served over French Fries, but this had some Baked Potato chunks on the side. This dish was wonderful, too. Here's Yolanda marveling at the wonder of it all.

Incredibly, for a girl who only weighs 87 pounds soaking wet, she put away her half of this as well. Me, I had no problem.

We passed on Dessert and Coffee.

Our next stop was Barcelona 360, which is a fairly new RestoBar right on my corner, for an after-dinner drink. It's most attractive asset is its proximity to my apartment.

Yolanda had a Pisco Sour, and since I don't drink, I ordered a Leche de Tigre, which is basically a mini-Cebiche. It comes in a rink glass, but I don't think that I fooled anyone.

I ate some of it just to be social, but it wasn't the best food that I have ever come across, and I had just eaten a whole delicious meal, so I left over about half. Yolanda finished her drink.
