Lima, Finally

Well, after a mess of things Just Don't Go Right, I finally get to my apartment in Lima.

The doorman said, Hi Senor Richman. Julia (the lady with your key) just left. She will be back 'soon'.

OK, I'm nothing of not adaptable. I leave them my bags and walk the half block to Punto Azul to get something to eat. It's just after 5:00, but they stay open for Dinner Thursday through Saturday, so I'm OK.

No, I'm not. They close from 5 to 7 to 'rest'.

I'm nothing of not adaptable. I walk another block to Embarcadero 41. I know they're open. And I know that they're fabulous.

***This is where the worm turns.***

They usher me to a seat, ask where I've been, and give me a menu. I nosh on the chifles and cancha while I decide.

I ordered three things. I told the waiter that he was the boss, and bring them in any order that he liked.

The first item was the Leche de Pantera.

This is a mini-cebiche, but instead of fish or mixed shellfish, they use Conchas Negras, which are some sort of Black Clam. Whatever, it's a favorite of mine, so I was happy to reuinite with an old buddy.

Next up was the Soup.

This was Crema de Tamal Verde con Cangrejo, Which is basically a Soup based on the flavors of a Green Tamale with Crab. The broth was delicious, there was Crab meat floating around in the soup, and the entire Crab in there was overkill, but looked great.

Last up, another old favorite.

Yes, Arroz con Mariscos - Rice with Seafood. There were Shrimps, Scallops, Calamari, and a couple of other, unidentifiable items. I didn't quite lick the plate, but it was close.

Around 10 pm, I was in the casino when they distributed Dinner. I usually pass on this extra meal, but I was still a little weary of saying 'no' to food when it was available, so I took the plate.
This was Beef with a side of some Rice/Wild Rice combo. They have different food every night, and it is almost always really tasty. Tonight was no different.

At around 1:00, I had another hankering, so I went to one of the 24-hour Chicken Soup places in town.

They sell other stuff, but the Caldo de Gallina is the star at these joints. This is a big-ass bowl of soup, with noodle, and egg, and a hunk of Gallina (which is an old hen). Supposedly, the flavor is stronger than chicken, but I can't tell. It was delicious, and I was finally able to stop eating after that.
