EAT TOO MUCH WEEKS: Last Thurs, Fri & Sat

Eat Too Much Weeks is a larger success than I ever dreamed of. I am officially out of control.

Thursday, May 21

This was the lowest volume day of Eat Too Much Weeks.

Bananas, Watermelon, Sweet Tomatoes (six Bowls of Soup), more Watermelon.

Friday, May 22

Watermelon, Mexican Food, and two pounds of Pork that I marinated the day before.

Saturday, May 23

Pupusas (two Pork & Cheese; one just Cheese), and a ridiculous amount of Soup at the Hot Pot with Jennifer, Edwar, Daniella and Antonio. They had a room at the Hard Rock for the Weekend, so we hung by the pool on Saturday as well.

EAT TOO MUCH WEEK: Tuesday & Wednesday

Tuesday, May 19

You would think that -- after the eatfest that was my trip to Lima -- I would ramp it down somewhat this week. Well, no.

My old friend Boyd used to say, "The more you get, the more you want." He wasn't talking about food, but the point is the same.

I landed and was out of the airport by 7:15 in the morning. I took a cab straight to the office to work until I passed out.

It was going perfectly well until Jeff suggested that we go get some Soup for Lunch. Off to Pho Hoa we went.

I had a Number 65, extra Large, Jeff had a Number 63, and Larry had some sort of Chicken Salad.

It was a mistake. I started nodding off at my desk, so I headed home. I stopped at Publix, where cut-up Watermelon was on sale.

I nodded off for a few hours, and when I woke up, I had some Bowls of Watermelon, and then, in the freezer, I discovered some Split Pea Soup that Vivian had given me and the last of the Frozen Grapes. I inhaled all of those things before passing out again.

Here's Tuesday's Steps:

Wednesday, May 20

In the morning, I had some more of the small Bowls of Publix Watermelon Chunks.

Then I discovered that I had left my camera in Pho Hoa yesterday, so I called them up to confirm. I picked up the camera at Lunch time, and I couldn't really go there and NOT have Soup, could I?

On the way home, I stopped at El Punto (formerly Andrews Meat Market) and picked up some nice Turkey Necks.I broke out the Usual Suspects and cooked me up a Mess o' Turkey Necks.

I ate them throughout the course of the night, leaving over four or five pieces, which I later gave to Lonnise for her mother, who is a big Turkey Neck fan.

LIMA DAY 12: Farewell Octopus

Monday, May 18

Last day. It's never happy. Even with Octopus and Ice Cream.

Alex and Cesar offered to meet me for my Farewell Lunch. They let me pick, so I announced that we would be eating at Los Calamares, on the Barranco/Surco/Miraflores border.

We started with an order of Conchitas a la Parmesean (Scallops Parmesean).

Alex and I are big Octopus fans; I had a Tacu Tacu with Grilled Octopus, and Alex just had a plate for Grilled Octopus (hold the Tacu Tacu).

They do a good job on their Octopus here. I was happy.

Cesar had an order of Hueveras. He loves those things.

For the Big Finish, we also shared an order of their Fried Calamari.

This isn't Fried like at every other place on the planet, but sliced and then sauteed with Onions. I don't know if I like it because it is different, or it is good, but I like it.

Then we had our tearful farewell (tearful for me, at least). I will spare you the details.

At the airport, I had a Pastel de Acelga and a Chicken/Egg/Cheese/Something Else Sandwich.

They were, well, Food.

For my final, final Farewell, I went to 4D for my Reward for actually going to the airport and getting on the airplane: Gelato.

I bought a Diet Sprite to go with it because 1) For some strange reason, bottles of Soda from the vending machines were less than a dollar. AT THE AIRPORT and 2) Diet Soda: Offsets the Gelato. It turns out that Sprite Zero isn't very good.

On the plane, Spirit was more than happy to sell me a bag of Combos.

That was it for the day, and for the trip. Here's my steps.
