On my first trip to Peru in 2004, I made some friends, and joined them for Lunch on the last day of my trip. They took me to Punterenas Restaurant, where I had (surprise) a wonderful meal.
I didn't know where I was, or what the name of the place was. But I remembered it, and knew that I liked it. I kept my eyes peeled on all future visits... nada,
Then, last time, I'm walking down the street in Chorrillos, minding my own business, and BOOM! There it was! It was the first place on my list for this trip since that day.
Alex picked me up and we headed there. He knew exactly where it was. Ha!
We split a mixed Apppetizer.
This is the Piqueo Especial Puntatenas. The things here are Scallops Parmesan, Fried Shrimp, Mixed Fried Seafood, and Fish brochettes, all around a flaming Scallop Shell. If I had to guess, I polished off more than half of it. Alex was too busy glorying in the idea that he would be in the blog, and his fork moved too slowly.
My main dish Was Lenguado Cordon Bleu. We call Lenguado Sole, and it was a (big) piece of Sole, rolled up around a slice of Ham and some Cheese.
Yes, those are Vegetables on my plate as well. And the things that look like canned Potato Sticks are freshly-made Potato Sticks. I ate the entire Cordon Bleu, the Vegetables except for the Carrots, Peas and Habas (a Peruvian bean), and maybe 10 of the Potato Sticks.
Oh, and it was Awesome. I will try to not wait another nine years before going there again.
Alex had the Chupa de Pescado. That's a Vegetable and Fish-based Soup that is very popular here in Peru.
He said it was wonderful. He says everything is wonderful, but he lives here, so he's probably right.
