Blue Moon

I woke up way too early on Sunday. I was hungry, but  wasn't emotionally prepared (yet) to get moving and enter the Gourmet Food Court that is Lima.

When I was in Wong yesterday, I picked up some Mandarin Oranges.  They were around a dollar a kilo, so I bought seven of them for what came out to 75 cents. I ate them this morning.

For years, people have been telling me about the Blue Moon Buffet in Lince. For some reason, I dismissed it as a Tourist place and forgot all about it. I was doing some internet research, and it kept popping up, so I decided to give it a shot.

For some insane reason, I bought an Empanada on the street while I was walking to the restaurant. It was really good.
I get to the restaurant. First off, I was the only person who spoke English there, so tourist-joint was out. It's a very small Italian restaurant. The Brunch is about $25, and I decided to give it a shot.

Before we get to what I ate, here's a bunch of pictures of the buffet itself. As always, click on any photo to enlarge.

First the Salads and Cold Stuff:

Now, the Seafood choices. These pictures don't do it justice.

Last, the Meats and Italian Stuff. There were a LOT of these choices.

There was also a Dessert table.

I made one trip to each section, except I cheated and got a Seafood thing twice. I am sure that I will be leaving out some stuff in the descriptions.
Bleu Cheese, Seven different types of Ham Products, Stuffed Artichoke, Stuffed Hot Pepper with Tuna
Eggplant Rollatini, Veal Saltimboca, Cannelloni, Chateaubriand, Baby Pig, Filet Mignon and Seafood Assortment (center)
Coquille St. Jacques (they say; I have no idea), Octopus Salad, Razor Clams, Various food on a Stick, Fried Calamari, Carpaccio of Trout, and an extra Seafood Assortment (above the plate)

One thing here: The hot stuff isn't hot. You pick it out, bring it to your table, and about 7 different employees come by and ask you something in Spanish, really fast. If you're a moron like me, you say, "I'm fine" to the first six, and then figure out that by the time the seventh guy shows up you figure out that they are offering to heat the food for you. It's much better hot.

They had Gelato in their counter. I asked the guy if that was included in the Brunch. I have no idea if it is, but I came away with a scoop of Chocolate.

Then, I paid and waddled past all of the bakeries that I eyed on the way there. I went to a Turkish Bath to steam out some of the Shrimps and to take a nap. When I came to later, I was back to normal.

  1. "For some insane reason, I bought an Empanada on the street while I was walking to the restaurant." LOL.
That restaurant is in my hood. They have plenty of items to choose from, and usually have a selection of fresh fruit.
