Somehow, I found myself alone and with nothing planned for Dinner on Tuesday.
Peru This Week is an English-language Peru Website, mostly aimed at Ex-pats, but it does the trick for me as well. I looked through the Restaurant Review section, and La Botica sounded like a good place to try.
La Botica is an Old-School Peruvian Taberna (bar). It gets its name due to the fact that the storefront it is in used to be a pharmacy.
Anyway, I kept it simple and only ordered two dishes.
Seeing how the theme of this trip seems to be Stuffed Peppers, I started with a Rocoto Relleno.
This one didn't come with the Pastel de Papa (Potato thingamabob that I really like), but it had all kinds of tasty stuff floating around on the plate. I finished every bite.
For my second dish, I ordered the Hueveras.
Hueveras are fried Fish Eggs (roe), served with Onions. I had them once before with Fernando at a different restaurant, and I didn't like them all that much. Jose at my office suggested that I try them when we spoke last week, so I gave them another shot. I am glad that I did. These were not dry, and they were delicious. I ate just about all of them.
That's if for Tuesday night. I walked off some of it when I left the restaurant. I figured a half hour on my feet wouldn't kill me. It didn't.
