Well, we finally made it to Santo Pez for our 9:30 dinner reservation. I had purchased a Groupon, so we didn't wind up spending too much money.
We started off with their version of Anticuchos. These are normally beef hearts marinated and then grilled. Santo Pez' version was little shooters with a couple of pieces of marinated heart, along with some diced potatoes and some choclo. I ate three of these.
Next, we split a ceviche mixto. This was shrimp, calamar, scallops, pulpo (octopus), caricoles (snails) and maybe something else, all tossed together and marinated in lime juice and a little spice. It is served with sliced sweet potatoes, more kernels of choclo, and topped with salsa criolla, which is basically shredded onion with a little oil and some spices. The two appetizers were excellent.
The main course was their paella. This was rice mixed with various seafood, as well as some meat and a few small vegetables, mosty for color. It was good, but not as outstanding as the appetizers.
I've eaten ther ebefore without a Groupon. I would eat there again, but there are so many places in Lima, it is hard to repeat.
