Picas

In between lunch and dinner, I had some frozen grapes for a snack.

My friend Dely wanted me & Ed to experience a good old-fashioned Peruvian pena experience -- that's a bar where people sit around and eat and drink and watch old-school Peruvian musicians perform/jam/ party. It's a classic form of entertainment here, and I was looking forward to going with a local.

We met her at 9:30 and headed out. We get there, and it was Rock and Roll night. Now me... I'm a rockero, but not so much my friends. We headed to Barranco in search of something to do. It turns out Wednesday isn't your best fun night in Lima, so we went to one of the popular tourist areas, and settled ourselves in Picas.

It wasn't very crowded, but they had drinks and food, so we went in.

Dely maybe weighs 100 pounds soaking wet, but she eats like a linebacker. We shared two appetizers: Shrimp Wontons and Tempura Seafood.

For my main course, I had anticuchos -- marinated and grilled beef hearts, and potatoes topped with (respectively) a fried shrimp, a piece of fried fish, something I don't remember, and a piece of octopus.

Dely helped me with the anticuchos, and she ordered the potato thing, too. The picture of her with the potatoes is much better than the one just with the food, so that's what you get.

I had some more frozen grapes when I went to bed.
