Saturday, March 15
I started the morning by walking over to the BioFeria. It's a weekend-only Organic Market-ish place. They had lots of stuff going on, but first: Breakfast at La Preferida.
La Preferida is the most civilized place in all of Lima. They're a Cebicheria that opens way early and serves the entire menu all day. Just perfect.
I broke out of the box with a Rocoto Relleno and a Cebiche of Fish and Octopus.
Awesome. Way more than I want to spend on Breakfast, but oh well.
Things were still moving well apace at the BioFeria when I got back.
In honor of all of my Vegetarian friends, I had an Organic Vegetarian Rocoto Relleno.
It was OK, I guess, but they're better stuffed with Meat. This one had some Quinoa, various unidentified Vegetables, Egg parts, some Cheese, and came with a Salad.
I was meeting Fernando for Lunch, so I only had time for one more thing before then. I walked to Mercado #1 in Surquillo and stopped at the cart for Bam Bam y su Ceviche. I ordered a Leche de Tugre.
Leche de Tigre is basically Cebiche in a glass. Bam Bam whips up a very good example of it.
I had purchased a Groupon for a new Italian restaurant called Morsi & Sorsi. I offered to buy Fernando Lunch, and he met me there.
We each started off with Risotto with Seafood.
There was *some* Seafood in there, but mostly, it was Rice. It wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about, either.
Our Main Course was a Mixed Seafood Grill.
This was better and Features Swordfish, some generic white Fish baked with Bread Crumbs, Octopus, Shrimp on a Stick and some grilled Calamari. It was certainly worth whatever discounted price I paid for the Groupon, but I'm not sure I will be going back any time soon.
Because I am nothing if not a Big Spender, I told Fernando that he couln't get dessert there and I took him to this place I know for Cremoladas.
Cremoladas are a cross between a Snow Cone and a Slurpee. They're really good, and this place (couldn't tell you the name if you held a gun to my head, but it is on Av. Bolognese, one block from the ocean) has a LOT of flavor choices. And they use flavorings featuring real Fruit, rather than a lot of chemicals.
I had a combination of Chocolate and Grape, and Fernando had some Fruit flavor, but I don't remember which. They cost just under US$3 each.
That was it for the daytime. Cinthya and I had plans to go to the movies, so we went to Starbucks for a pre-show Frappuccino. Mine was a Frap Light.
After the movie, we went to Antigua Bodega for a late Dinner. I had Tuna with (more) Risotto, and Cinthya had a Causa with Crabmeat.
They were both really good. I don't go to this place often (sometimes I look for it and it isn't where I look), but whenever I do, I enjoy iy a lot.
That's it for the day. Good thing, because I think that Peru was probably out of food by this point. Here's my steps for the day.
Thanks for the pics. The rocoto rellenos look good!
