Cebiche Thursday

Thursday, March 6

OK gang... remember that these next few days are a combination of 'making space' and pre-gaming for Lima next week. I promised Food, not necessarily Glorious Food.

A package of Turkey Breast.

I think that I only have one or two more before they are all thankfully gone.

For Lunch, even more Vegetable Soup.

I really shouldn't complain; I like Vegetable Soup. And it is already cooked.

For my Afternoon Snack, I had a bag of String Beans.

That was it in the daytime.

A few months ago, I went to D'Mar, a Peruvian restaurant on Oakland Park Blvd. It's near my house, but the food was only average, and -- horrors! -- when I paid in cash, the waiter took the liberty of rounding the bill in his favor. Jesus. I swore that I wouldn't go there again. Other than proximity to my house, there's lots of better places.

Then I drove by. They had a sign: Thursday Cebiche Festival. All You Can Eat for $16.

I like Cebiche. I need to get into practice. I can eat a lot.

I figured that I would get my money's worth. In I went.

Before the Cebiche, I had a Causa.

This Causa was two layers of mashed Yellow Potatoes around what we would call Chicken Salad and Avocado. As Causas go, it was pretty good.

Then it was Cebiche time. They brought out small orders; I had five of them.

The sauces were different. From top to bottom, they were: Salsa de Rocoto, Classic, Nikkei and Aji Amarillo. That's only four, but I had doubles on the Rocoto.

They were Ok, and I guess that they were worth $16, but I won't be going back. With just a little more driving, there's much better Peruvian food around.

When I got home, I had even more Vegetable Soup.

And then, at 1:00 am, when I should have been sleeping, another package of Turkey.

That's it. Here's my steps for the day. I can't wait until next Friday.
