On Thursday, a friend had given me some fresh fish that he had caught. I was excited (I really like fresh fish, and I really, really like FREE fresh fish), so Breakfast was: Fish.
I pre-nuked the extra Broccoli and Okra that I had from the Roasted Vegetables, while I heated a pan with Ricatto (a Spanish cilantro-centric Soup base) with some Garlic paste and a little hot sauce.
Once the sauce was hat, I added the filets, and then threw in the Vegetables to finish steaming.
A few minutes later, voila:
It was probably around a pound of fish. A lot, sure. But it's Fish. And it was delicious.
For pre-game Dinner, I went to D'Mar, a Peruvian place very near my house.
I had two dishes. The first was a Cebiche in Rocoto Sauce.
It was pretty good. The Fish chunks were cut too small, if you ask me, but everyone slices their Cebiche differently.
My second dish was an old standby, Parihuela.
This is the Seafood Soup that I get a lot in Lima. It wasn't up to Lima standards, but it was good enough. They didn't do anything to rule themselves out from a future visit.
Then it was time to pay.
The bill came to $27.54. I gave them a $50 bill, and the waiter brought me $22 in change. I guess that they had no coins, but why did they assume that I was OK with overpaying for my Dinner? Especially without asking. Give me $23 in fucking change next time, people.
I didn't say anything, and I tipped the waiter $1 less than I would have otherwise, so my out-of-pocket really didn't change.
I really don't think it was the money. If I'm willing to pay $27 for Dinner, I'm certainly willing to pay $28. But only if it really costs $28. The place wasn't so special that I have to go back. It is close to my house and the food was good enough; that's it.
After some Facebook discussion, I realized that I should have asked for my $50 back and given them a card. If they were OK with me paying a few extra cents, I am certainly OK with them giveing $3 (or whatever) to the credit card company.
Anyway, I'm done eating today. If I snack on anything later, I will make a separate post.
