Another Bowl of Watermelon.
At around 11:30, I had five Peaches. They were tender and succulent.
Another half Bowl of Watermelon. Shauna took the rest.
One more Bowl of Watermelon at around 4 pm. Today was pretty much Watermelon-rific.
I told Loretta that I would bring her whatever she wanted for dinner tonight. The food in her rehab is -- in the best of times -- horrible. She called me this afternoon and announced that she wanted Knishes from the Knish place at the Festival Flea Market.
If you've never been there, "The Knish place at the Festival Flea Market" doesn't sound all that impressive. But they have some really good Knishes. If you don't know what a Knish is, I feel sorry for you. The best way that I can describe them would be: Jewish Empanadas, baked, not fried. Click HERE to see how Wikipedia describes them.
I showed up just as they were closing at 5:00 and I had to play the Sick Mother Card to get them to go back into the refrigerator and sell them to me. I had to promise to pay with exact change, too.
We wound up with four Knishes: Kasha (her original request), Potato, and two Spinach & Mushroom.
They were freaking fabulous. I had one of the nurses at the rehab nuke them for us. We each had a Spinach & Mushroom, we split the Kasha one, and I ate half of the Potato Knish... glorious. I probably haven't had a Knish in ten years, and these were excellent examples.
Loretta really enjoyed them, too.
The deal there is Buy 3, Get One Free, so I paid a total of $11 for this Dinner for two. We ate at 5:30 pm; I am still full now at 11:07.
In case you're wondering, Loretta is doing great. Today, they had her walk with a cane in PT, she was hobbling around her room with neither the cane or walker when I showed up today, her knee is healing very well, and her scheduled day to go home is next Thursday. I think I may bust her out of there for Lunch on Saturday.
Ohhhh man, festival knish.
