Friday - Cruise Day 1 - Evening

Ed and I came up with a plan. The plan was: We will eat in the restaurants, not the buffets. Then, we will eat less.

You be the judge.

We had dinner reservations at Cagney's, the Steak House on the ship, for 8 pm. It was 7 pm, and I was hungry. I went to the buffet on the pool deck and looked for vegetables. They had them at Lunch; I was sure that they would be there for Dinner, too.

I filled a plate with Mushrooms & Squash and Ginger Broccoli.
I liked the Mushrooms & Squash, so I had some more. That took the edge off.

At Cagney's, I ordered the Short Rib meat with Hummus and Something else as my Appetizer, served with Pita Bread.

I could have lived without it, but it was small, so I didn't care. Ed had the Shrimp Cocktail to start.

Our second course was salad (Ed) and Split Pea Soup (me)

This wasn't the classic Split Pea. It was thinner, and the peas tasted like peas, not mush. It took a little getting used to, but I liked it.

We ordered Steaks for our main courses. Ed had the Ribeye, and I ordered the NY Strip, cooked rare, with Mushrooms and Broccoli. That's what they brought me.

I immediately took the butter off, and ate the Broccoli and Mushrooms. When I cut into the steak, it was not rare. It was medium. I tried a couple more bites, and then I had to send it back. They were nice about it, and I quickly had a second steak, and about twenty apologies.

This one was Just Right, and delicious.

At 11:30, they put out a small spread in the casino. I had some Canteloupe, Honeydew, Carrots and Red Pepper.

And at 12:30, Ed and I went to the late night buffet. I found some roasted Chicken, and had some legs and one breast.

Then I went to bed, where I found a scary Towel Monster on my bed.

Tomorrow's another day; hopefully the towel creature will be friendlier. Like a puppy, maybe. Or a duck.
