Cruise Day 3: Nassau, Bahamas

Sunday, February 2
Room service was there at 7:10 with my three Fruit Plates.

Ed and I met for Breakfast and went up to the Buffet this morning. It couldn't have been worse than the sit-down yesterday.

We were right. I had a plate with Stir-Fry Vegetables and some Smoked Salmon. It was so good, I did it again.

The Buffet on this ship is the best of the three, three-day cruise lines. The only issue I have with their Buffet is that the hours are funky.

Today's port was Nassau, in the Bahamas. On my last trip, I wound up eating Lunch with Patrick at the Nassau Cricket Club, and it was really good, so I talked Ed into walking there today.

We opened with a dozen Conch Fritters.

I had half of them. We each then had a Bowl of Conch Chowder.

I liked this again. Any time I get Conch Chowder back home, it has two main differences: First, it is usually spicy (it isn't here) and second, there was actual Conch in this Bowl of Soup.

After that, we split a plate of Cracked Conch.

When I say 'split' I mean that I ate three quarters of it. Crack Conch, it turns out, is like Fried Clams, only with Conch. I had always heard of it, but had never tried it before. I'm sure that this was a good example -- full of Conch and freshly-made -- but it wasn't all that special.

We walked back without any other eating going on. I had two Bananas at around 4:30.

There was a Super Bowl party on the ship. They set up a large screen and a 'tailgate' section in one of the smaller theaters. I had a Chili Dog and Chili Burger.

The Dog and Burger weren't that good, but the Chili was, so I had some more.

The game was as bad as the Hot Dog, so we left and went to Dinner. I started with a Roll and then, I decided to avoid the bad Appetizers by having a Main Course for my Appetizer.

This was some sort of Shrimp with some Garlic over Rice. It was pretty good. Ed had the Shrimp Cocktail.

For our Main Courses, we both had the Filet. It was excellent.

No Dessert or Coffee or anything. Amazingly, I didn't eat anything more after dinner. When I returned to my room, I found two Whimsical Towel Animals... I had given my room attendant crap about the lousy one the night before.

Here's my TrimFit count for Sunday. Regular days will not be as glorious.
