Thursday: People on Diets Shouldn't Eat Out Twice in the Same Day

Thursday, May 22

After my Peru trip, one meal out a day is too many. Apparently, two of them isn't enough.

Two Bowls of Watermelon.

Gordon and I were out running errands in the afternoon. I was going to go to Albertsons to get some more Watermelon, but then I felt all generous to Gordon and offered to buy him Lunch. I figured that I would have something, too... just to be friendly.

First, he picked Chipolte, but when we got there, the line had to be more than 50 people, so we got back in the car and headed to Jacks BBQ on Oakland Park Boulevard.

Gordon had a Quarter Chicken with two Sides and I had Rib Tips with... more Rib Tips.

So you can just look at the plate of Rib Tips, imagine that there was another, and that';s how many I had.

That kept me full until it was time to meet Loretta for Dinner. She had made us reservations at Uncle Lui's Restaurant on Oakland Park Blvd and University Drive.

Phil & Loretta used to go there all the time, but I had never been there before, so I was excited.

The menu has a lot of choices, and the place isn't all that expensive. I chose one of the Specials, Trout Almondine. It came with Soup or Salad (duh... I took Soup) and one Side (I chose Yellow Rice). Loretta ordered the Shrimps in some sort of Sauce with Soup and Sweet Potato. All dishes come with Cabbage and Creamed Spinach.

The Soup was Split Pea, so I was thrilled. They also served Potato Pancakes when you first sit down. Loretta had one; I didn't.

I finished my Soup and a little of Loretta's. I had all the Trout and about half the Rice, and I ate all the Cabbbage. Neither of us touched the Spinach.

All the food was pretty good. Not great, but good enough for a repeat visit, especially at that price.

The meal also included Dessert and a Beverage. We both had Coffee, and Loretta took home two (large) pieces of Strudel as the Desserts.

Later that night, I had another Bowl of Watermelon at home.

Here's my steps for the day. There weren't a lot.
