Lima Day 8: I think we're going to need a bigger table

Thursday, May 15

Lunch for two people should be able to fit on one table, no?

Apparently not. We started out early, trying to go to the Empanada place for Breakfast before heading downtown to pick up our new glasses.

We got there too early (the Empanadas are ready at 10:45), so we had Chicken Salad Sandwiches and Papa Rellenas instead.

Delicious.

We then headed to the Glasses Store, made our pickup and went to La Victoria for Lunch. We had plans to go to one place, but they were closed, so we did some random walking.

On the walk, we stopped and I had a slice of Pineapple, and Ed had some juice.

We were headed to El Pez On, but on a caprice, we ate at La Rejita Chiclayana, which is a Cebicheria with a Northern Peruvian flair.

We had (in no particular order): Tamale Verde, Scallops Parmesean, Sopa a la Minuta, Rice with Duck (me), Grilled Chicken Breast (Ed) and a Leche de Pantera (Glass of Cebiche de Conchas Negras - Me).

As you can see, way too much food for one small table. We finished most of it (We = Rich), and headed home to rest up for the evening.

For Dinner, we tried a place that was new (to us): La Casa de Jean Paul. Jean Paul Strauss is a local romantic singer, and this is his restaurant.

It's all the way out in Hell and Creation, but well worth the drive.

We started with a bunch of different appetizers: Scallops with some Sauce we couldn't figure out, Tequenos filled with Crabmeat, and two different Cebiches.

Too much stuff doe our table (again). They had to leave the dishes on the serving tray next to us.

For our Main Course, Ed had Shrimp Lasagna, and I had some sort of Pork. I must have been in a coma by that time, because I couldn't find a picture either on my Camera or my Telephone. Regardless, it was all smokey and delicious and I ate every bite.

Later, we went to some bar near the apartment and watched my friend Juani do some great American Rock and Roll cover music.

That's it. Amazingly, I was still able to walk, and chalked up an impressive amount of steps.
