Damn, just three days left.
Ed and I made the rounds of the Tourist Crap places to get some souveniers. It's always fun, because I get to practice my Spanish and just talk with people. Ed bought some stuff, and - while standing right next to the salesgirl - we had the following conversation while negotiating price:
RICH: We've got her down to 80 Soles each. After, with our business out of the way, we dropped off our stuff and went right downstairs to Punto Azul to have a Pre-Lunch. Literally, right downstairs. Here's a photo I just took from my window.
ED: I want to pay less, but that price is fine. Do you think that now is the time that I wave may arms, stamp my feet, and we march out of here?
RICH: It probably would be, except that she speaks perfect English and is standing right here.
ED: We'll take them, Miss.
For our Pre-Lunch, we each had a Parihuela (Seafood Soup), and we also shared an order of mixed fried Fish Chunks and Calamari.
Ed didn't have much of his Soup. He was going to, and then he got a taste of the Calamari. Me, I had my Soup and I ate some of the other stuff.
For our official Lunch, we walked down the street (again, literally) to Embarcadero 41 to meet my friend Jenny. We were supposed to eat with her on Thursday, but she got caught up taping her television show (she's a model and does famous people stuff), so we rescheduled for today. Also, when he was here last year, she taught him how to take Blog photos, so Ed was excited to see her again.
I ordered a Leche de Pantera (Black Clam Cebiche in a glass) and an order of Pulpo Anticuchero.
The Pulpo is Grilled Octopus, but it is served as if (and sauced accordingly) it was Anticuchos - Beef Hearts. I like that Sauce, so this was pretty good, but a little tougher than what we ate at Panchita the other night.
Jenny had a Causa and then Shrimps in a slightly spicy Yellow Pepper Sauce, and Ed had a Fish Filet in a different (but really tasty) Yellow Sauce.
As I said, Jenny is a natural when a camera is around.
In a surprise move, Jenny also ordered some sort of Chocolatey Cheesecake-y Dessert.
I don't know how she eats this much; she spends a lot of her time modeling clothes that don't give her the luxury of hiding Cheesecake. But she's good at it, I guess.
We did some tourist stuff late afternoon and early evening. On the way to meet some friends, we stopped at Chicharron Kio in San Miguel. Lots of places sell you a Pork Sandwich, but Kio is the undisputed king, as evidenced by people hovering over tables, waiting for them to come free. The fry up a whole lot of Pork.
Anyway, we both got Sandwiches, and thought we were done for the day.
Later, we met up with Luis, Patricia, Jose Antonio, Luisa, Diego and a few more people. It turns out that Luisa's son and his fiance own a Sandwich Shop in town, so guess where we were going?
Yes, to El Tata Sanguchera. To eat Sandwiches.
I met the on and girlfriend, and we broke into tables and ordered Sandwiches. I had a Shredded Chicken with Egg, Cheese and Potato Stick, Luisa and Nilda had Burgers, and Jose Antonio had... I don't know. It looked big and messy.
Ed was at another table; I don't think that he ate anything.
Finally, that was it for the day. Here's my steps.
