Thursday 10/10 - The Hot Pot for a Hot Pot

Sorry for the delay in reporting. It has been a hell of a week.

For Lunch on Thursday, I had 3/4 of a Barbequed Chicken.

This also came from the BBQ place that I went to on Sunday night... it was in the refrigerator, but I forgot about it. It wasn't as good as the sandwich I had there, but it might have been better if it was warm. Maybe not, I'm not sure.

I took Loretta out to Dinner on Thursday. I told her about Lonnise and my trip to Hot Pot a couple of weeks ago, and she wanted to give it a try. We started with the Mussels Dynamite.

They are $2 off before 7:00! Anyway, I really liked them again, but Loretta thought that they were too spicy. It didn't stop her from eating them, though.

Then... we ordered a Hot Pot. The way this works is that you pick two of five or six different Broths. They bring a cauldron with those Broths to your table and place it on a tableside stove. You then select whatever Meats/Fish/Vegetables that you want for your soup and add them as desired.

Our Broth selections were Vegetable and (I don't remember the name) a Spicy Broth with Chile Peppers floating around in it. Here's Ekaterina delivering our Hot Pot (Katie was not working).

Since we are Friedmans, we ordered Way Too Many Things to put into the Hot Pot.

There's Bok Choy, Scallops, Shrimps, sliced Shrimp Cake, Noodles, Swordfish and Mushrooms. There might have been something else, too. The additional items ran from $2 (Noodles, Bok Choy) to $8 (Swordfish) each. The Hot Pot itself (with the two flavors) was $10.

The Broth heated up, and we added stuff to cook. The Noodles were already cooked, so they went right into our individual Soup Bowls. I had three Bowls of Soup, and Loretta Had two. There was plenty of Broth left when we were done, so I had them wrap it up to go, and bought an extra thing of Noodles. I wound up giving it all to Sergio on Friday... he looked hungry.

It was fun, delicious, apparently healthy, and reasonably priced. We didn't need ti buy the appetizer, and Loretta's glasses of wine were only $5 each. I would call this dinner a roaring success.

Here's Loretta glorying over the Hot Pot assortment.

That was it for the day.
