I have never been there when it was very crowded; I hope this changes, because it would be a shame to see this place close due to lack of business... the food is well-thought out and delicious. And fairly-priced.
My meal consisted of some of the Daily Specials; Sergio ordered off of the regular menu.
I started with "Squid Ate A Pig."
This was a whole Calamari Tube, filled with Andouille Sausage, and then topped with a Tomato Sauce. This was really tasty, and it was a combination you just don't see every day.
Sergio had a half order of the Gumbo. This is a Gumbo made of Ham, Sausage and Chicken. He said that it was wonderful. I've had it before, and I agree with him.
I am sure that my main course had a catchy name, but I don't remember what it was.
What this plate featured was Squid ink Pappardelle with Clams and Rapini. Rapini is Broccoli Rabe, and Pappardelle is a type of pasta. These were long, flat pastas, and they were black, from the Squid Ink.
I can never taste the difference when I order the specialty pastas. This was tasty, but no different (to me, anyway) from the classic pasta. The Clams were wonderful, and whatever kind of sauce was on this worked well, too. And, there was Garlic. Lots of Garlic.
Sergio had, for his main dish, "Go Fork an Egg."
Yet another in Sergio's Endless Supply of Polo Shirts. This one was Grey. |
This was a Strip Steak with Fried and a Fried Egg. The Steak had "Steak Sauce" underneath. He finished every bite, so I guess it was good.
We both passed on Dessert, but we each had a Coffee French Press.
