...now that I am looking at the photos, it doesn't appear that I ate too much, but it sure felt that way.
Nothing in the morning.
Jennifer came by the office to visit, and on the way back to drop her off at her hotel, we stopped at Las Colinas on Andrews Avenue to have some Cuban food.
Jennifer started with an Empanada.
Jennifer makes her Blog debut! |
She was thrilled. She said that it would be sacrilege to come to South Florida and not have an Empanada, and she was not disappointed. I passed on an Appetizer.
For our Main Course, we both ordered the daily special, the Beef Stew (they had a different name for it).
These were petty tender and good. I had mine with a double side of Arroz Moro (Rice & Black Beans mixed) and Jennifer had White Rice and (I think) Plantanos with hers. I finished all of mine; Jennifer left some of hers over.
After work, I had a Pineapple in the house, and I used my machine to core it and eat it.
I met Lonnise for Dinner. Despite us being friends for 8640956709346 years, she has never eaten Peruvian Food. We tried once, but something happened and we didn't do it. Tonight, the streak would end.
We went to Las Cholitas in Plantation. A couple of our friends had recommended it; I had been there once with Loretta, but I didn't remember how it turned out.
We kept pretty much to Intro To Peruvian Food 101. We started with a Causa.
A Causa is mashed Yellow Potatos, 'stuffed' with a layer of one of many different things. This one was filled with Avocado and Shrimp. Lonnise was a little nervous at first, but she wpound up eating half of the dish.
For our Main Dishes, we shared two items.
In the top photo, Lonnise is Modeling Pescado a lo Macho. That is normally a Fish Filet in a Sauce made up of mixed Seafood. Lonnise is still taking her first steps, so I had them substitute the Mixed Seafood for extra Shrimp.
The yellow plate is Aji de Gallina. That dish is shredded Chicken with a few pieces of Potato in a creamy, yellow Sauce.
Both of these dishes were very good. Lonnise was surprised as to how much she liked them. I had about a third of the Fish plate and Lonnise had a third and took the rest home. I had about 2/3 of the Chicken dish, with Lonnise getting all full before eating her half.
I also ordered a small Cebiche.
I'm glad that I didn't force it on Lonnise... I didn't even like it all that much; she would have hated it.
That's it for the day. No Fruit, no Vegetables. But it felt like I Ate Too Much.
Here's my steps for the day.
