LIMA DAY 5: 5030 Restaurante & Tanta (Again)

Tuesday, March 10

Nothing for Breakfast. I figured I could fend for myself later.

A couple of weeks ago, I had purchased a Groupon for for a Cebicheria I had never heard of -- An Appetizer and two Main Courses for like $11.50. So I headed over there and got situated.

On the way, I stopped at a Bakery and had a Chicken Empanada.
When I arrived at 5030 Restaurant, they explained that the Groupon was a two-person deal, but I looked hungry enough, and they wished me luck. They started me with a shot of Leche de Tigre (Cebiche Juice) and some Cancha (Toasted Corn).

For my Appetizer, I has 'Causitas' -- these were Yellow Potato Balls filled with Crabmeat and then lightly breaded and Fried. Delicious.

For my Main Course(s), I ordered the Arroz con Mariscos (Rice with Seafood) and the Jalea (Mixed Fried Seafood).

I packed away all of the Jalea and ate just under half of the Rice dish. I took the rest to go, and wound up giving it to a guy on the street that told me he was hungry. No, I didn't have dessert.

After some recuperation time, I met my friend Jenny and her Manager, Ronalds for Dinner at Tanta Restaurante (my visit to Tanta the other day was spur-of-the moment). Jenny is a model, and TV person and has calendars and is sometimes all scandalosa and stuff. And she's pretty cool to hang around with. Ronalds is a good guy, too. This is the second time I've spent some time with him.

After catching up for a while, we started with a mixed Piqueo.

On the plate was a Tamale Verde, a Causa topped with what we would call Chicken Salad, Beef Hearts on A Stick, a Stuffed Potato (Papa Rellena) and Fried Yucca Balls. We split it pretty evenly.

For our main courses, I had Aji de Gallina (Shredded Chicken in a Yellow Pepper Sauce) with Rice, Jenny had Pasta with some Steak on the Side, and Ronalds had the Assorted Saltado dish that I ate on Sunday.

We all polished off our meals. I swear that I don't know where Jenny puts it; she always eats well, and then parades around 7/8 naked with not an ounce of extra weight showing.

Then the Dessert Lady showed up with the Dessert Tray.

I had a Chocolate thing, Jenny had one of the Mousse-like items, and Ronalds had the Cake at the top of the photo. We all tasted each others' Desserts, and decided that mine was the best.

Later, I picked Ed up at the airport. We dropped his stuff off and headed to the Casino, where I had a Fruit Salad.

At home, before I went to sleep, I had some Frozen Grapes.

Here's my steps.
