LIMA DAY 10: Final Day

Sunday, March 15

When I was a kid, my parents sometimes told me that, "My eyes were bigger than my stomach." So I set upon a course of expanding my stomach. Then I lost weight, so who knows now.

What I do know is that when Lunchtime rolled around, My Eyes were Bigger Than My Stomach. But I digress.

I woke up early. Ed and I weren't meeting until 11:30. His flight was Sunday night; mine was Monday morning.

I took a walk to Surquillo to what I call Chicharron Row. I stopped at the first place, and bought a Chicharron Sandwich.

So I inhaled that, and realized that I won't have another opportunity for months, so I walked a block and ordered what I thought was another Chicharron Sandwich. But apparently not.

They decided that I wanted a plate, so for $3.30, I had a plate of Camote (Sweet Potato) and Chicharron. And just in case I did want a sandwich, they gave me two rolls to boot. I humored them and had some more Sandwiches.

After waddling home and packing some more, I met Ed. Before we went for Lunch, I took him to Surquillo Mercado #1.

***I have no Pre-Lunch and Lunch Photos -- I brought the Camera, but I left the memory chip in the computer. I didn't realize it until I got home.***

Anyway, I first tried to show him the BioFeria. Ed had already changed his mental state to Back Home Mode, so there could have been Dinosaurs and Acrobats at the BioFeria and he wouldn't have noticed. I knew one way to get his attention, however: Pre-Lunch.

I took him to the mini Food Festival that they have every weekend at the Mercado. He had recently discovered Causas, so I got us one with Crab Meat and Shrimps to share. Reluctantly, he pickd at his half. I had no problem with mine.

We were sitting in front of the guy selling Chicharron, and it finally got on Ed's radar. He asked what it was, and when I explained that it was the Pork Sandwich that I've been trying to get him sample for three trips now, he decided that he wanted some. He bought a plate about the size that I had earlier, and ate some of it. I think he liked it.

We shopped a little (he got the Orange Peeler that he was looking for), then dropped the stuff off at my apartment before heading to El Bolivariano for Lunch.

They have a Sunday Buffet that's pretty great. You couldn't tell, based on what I ate. Apparently, my Eyes were Bigger than My Stomach. I had one small plate of Food and on stick of Anticuchos. Ed ate more than I did.

The Buffer there is really good. You can click here to see what we had on a previous visit.

We headed back to Miraflores, Ed picked up his stuff and headed to his hotel to finish packing and head to the airport.

Cesar and I were sending messages all day, and he agreed to meet me for my Farewell Dinner. I just think that he wanted to take another Blog photo. By the time Dinner rolled around, I had some space for food.

After much discussion, we decided to go to Cuarto y Mitad in Miraflores. It's a Steak House, and I'd never been there before. As it happened, I was hungry by then.

I started with the Bread, and then went on to my Appetizer: Anticuchos and a Sausage.

The Sausage was very good, and the Beef Hearts were pretty excellent.

For our Main Dishes, I had a Steak with Vegetables and a Pastel de Papa, and Cesar had Salmon with Vegetables.

He finally let me pay for something, but insisted on buying me some Ice Cream for Dessert. We walked about a block away to a Gelato place, and we scored some.

That was it for the day. I had to be up at 5:00 to get to the airport. Here's my steps.
