LIMA DAY 5: Sunday, the Way it Should Be. And A Giant Christmas Chicken

You want a Bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup at Midnight? We've got your back.

For Breakfast, I headed over to La Mora.

They are a Bakery/Diner/Restaurant with a couple of branches around Lima. This one is not far from the apartment. I ordered the Deluxe Breakfast, which is pretty Deluxe.

You're looking at freshly-made Pineapple Juice, A Basket if fresh Rolls, Scrambled Eggs with Mushrooms & Onions, some Gravlox, and a Latte with a picture of a swan on it. A freaking Swan!

They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner here at reasonable prices. If I lived in Lima, this would be one of my go-to spots year-round.

After Breakfast, this being Sunday and all, I grabbed a tree in Parque Central and read my book for an hour. The weather was perfect for sitting outside. That's my tree on the left.

I was in Casino Fiesta later on (the start of my casino-hopping), and they were giving out plates of Pork with Rice and Potatoes.

Much later, Luis and I stopped at a Caldo de Gallina restaurant. Caldo de Gallina is basically, Chicken Noodle Soup. But really, really good Chicken Noodle Soup.

But more important than the Soup, this place has a Giant Chicken perched above the cashier's booth. And for the holidays, it is all decked out for Christmas.

Back to the Soup. Luis had a regular, and both because I know no restraint and to honor the Giant Chicken, I got the Giant Bowl of Soup.

Or should I say 'Cauldron?' This thing has to be a Gallon of Soup. Here it is next to Luis' Bowl (which is no small thing in itself):

That was it for the day.
