First and foremost, Angela made a Watermelon Cake. A Watermelon Cake!!!!! A Cake made of Watermelon.
OK, here's the deal... Angela works the desk at our Monday Weight Watchers Meeting. She's a nice woman, and when she suggested that we do a Pot Luck Dinner at her house, Lonnise and I jumped at the opportunity.
Aside from Angela and her husband Nat, she invited Vivian (our group leader) and her husband, Charlie, and Jackie (another group member) and her husband. Jackie's husband wound up with a work commitment, so there were seven of us.
We got there and started out on the Shrimp Ring that Lonnise brought. I had six Shrimp.
Then we sat around and chatted for a while, while Nat fussed in the kitchen.
From the top: Vivian, Lonnise, Angela, me, Jackie, Charlie and Nat.
Then it was Dinner time. My contribution was two vats of Roasted Vegetables. I bought the food and prepped it on Saturday and cooked it up Sunday morning.
Jackie made Salad Wraps, Ned and Angela made Turkey Tenderloin and Pork in a Wonderful Marinade. Vivian whipped up a Chocolate Angel Food Cake (which was the least diet thing there, and incredibly good), and Angela also made the Watermelon Cake. I had seen that on line months and months ago and showed it to her. I had forgotten all about it, but evidently, she hadn't. And thank goodness for that.
Here's a picture of the sliced Watermelon Cake.
Considering all the food that was there, we all behaved fairly well. Lonnise won the 'portion control' award -- her plate was less full than all the others.
Aside from the good food and great company, there was... Oh, never mind. There was just good food and great company. We're already planning our next Banquet -- just not too soon!
Much later that night, I had first, Split Pea Soup, and then, Chicken Noodle.
Here's my steps for the day.
