Sunday: Peruvians. And Monday

Sunday, February 22

Happy birthday, President Washington.

My friends Garry and Veronika from Lima were in Miami. Garry had a work thing, and Veronika likes the Dolphin Mall. I drove down to meet them for Lunch. They decided that they wanted Seafood, so we Googled 'Seafood' and came up with the Doral Seafood House.

We got there, and it was a Secret Peruvian Restaurant. We were there already, so we decided to just sit down and eat.

Garry Had a Shrimp Cocktail, Veronika had a Aguadito de Pescado, and I had a Tacu Tacu topped with Mixed Seafood.

FOr Dessert, we shared an order of Picarones. I had one of them.

After that, we headed over to Hialeah Park and watched the last four races. I won't get to see them on my March trip, so I'm glad that they let me know when they were here.

On the way back, I bought some Strawberries and ate them in I-95.

I went to see American Sniper with Ed in the evening. After, we went to the Courtyard Cafe on Wilton Drive for Dinner.

I had a Bowl of Soup and a Meatloaf Sandwich. Ed had a Pastrami Sandwich and Tater Tots.

That's it for Sunday. here's my steps.

Monday, February 23

Lonnise and I had Heat tickets, so I took it easy during the day and just had Frozen Grapes. A lot of Frozen Grapes.

On the way to the game, we stopped at Shenanigan's Sports Pub, next to TY Park in Hollywood. I had 20 Non-Breaded Wings, Medium with Garlic, and Lonnise had a Chicken Philly Sandwich. Our waitress was very confused. Nothing to do with us; just waking up every day confuses her.

I was full and the Heat won... a great night.  Here's my steps.

Friday/Saturday: Pupusas!

Friday, February 20

In the morning, Frozen Grapes.

Edwar and I were on Prospect Road at Lunch time. We stopped in a Secret Pupusaria at around 3rd Avenue, maybe 5th Avenue. This is not to be confused with the Out In The Open For Everyone To See Pupusaria a half block East of the Secret Pupusa Place.

Pupusas are a Salvadorian treat. If you want to know how to spell them, just ask Val. This place makes them in a few styles, stuffed with a couple of different Meats, or in our case, Cheese. Here's the first Pupusa:

It was hot and delicious. Edwar and I split it.

For our Meals, I had Beef Soup, and Edwar had a Sandwich (I don't remember what type). I also had a Pupusa all to myself.

Later, at the office, more Frozen Grapes.

On the way home, I stopped at what used to be Andrews Meat Market and bought two Snapper Filets. I cooked it up in a mix that included Collard Greens, Diced Tomatoes, Mushrooms and Spices.

Even more later, more Frozen Grapes. Here's my steps.

Saturday, February 21

Frozen Grapes in the Morning. Frozen Grapes in the Afternoon. Frozen Grapes in the Evening.

I really like Frozen Grapes, but eating them (and them only) all day doesn't really fill you up, so around 9 pm, I had a package of Oscar Meyer Oven Roasted Turkey Breast and three types of Mustards.

I decided that I am not that big a fan of the Emeril's Mustard.

Seeing as I was out of Grapes, I went to sleep. Here's my steps.

Wednesday/Thursday: Soup, Pho, Scallops

Wednesday, February 18

Frozen Grapes. And then more Frozen Grapes.

Later, more Frozen Grapes.

For Dinner, Lonnise and I went to the Chimney House Grill and Cafe in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale. It's been on my mental list for years, but I always remember *after* I've already eaten. Not today.

It doesn't look it, but this is a Spanish-ish restaurant. I had the Jalea (Fried assorted Seafood), and Lonnise had Steak Tacos.

Later, at home, more Frozen Grapes. I love Frozen Grape Season.

Here's my steps:

Thursday, February 19

Frozen Grapes in the morning.

For Lunch, Edwar and I went to Pho Hoa, which is the real name of The Place That is Not Noodle House.

We split an order of Spring Rolls (or Summer Rolls, or whatever season they're named after), and each of us had a Bowl of Pho.

That kept me full for a while.

For Dinner, I headed over to Loretta's house. Pitbull was appearing on an awards show, and we didn't want to miss him.

Loretta's refrigerator always looks like she's about to move out, so I stopped and brought in Chinese Food for Dinner.

We shared Hot & Sour Soup, Vegetable Soup, Scallops with Vegetables, and Shrimps in Black Bean Sauce... it was a Festival!

At home, around 11:00, I had some Split Pea Soup.

Here's my steps.

Monday & Tuesday: Fish & Seafood. And Soup.

Monday, February 16

Edwar and I were running errands at Lunch time, so we went to the Secret Mexican Place on Dixie Highway. It has a name, but damned if I know what it is.

I had Beef Soup, and Edwar had Tacos.

For Dinner, I stopped at Albertsons and bought some Catfish, and I rummaged in my pantry to see what to add. I came up with two cans of Spinach, some Mushrooms, and keeping with the day's Mexican theme, some Mexican Hot Sauce.

It all cooked up nicely.

Later, some Frozen Grapes.

Here's my steps:

Tuesday, February 17

Frozen Grapes in the morning. Here's some of them.

On Saturday, I bought some Goya Ceviche Marinade at FoodTown. It wasn't Peruvian, but I am nothing if not open-minded. Unlike the Cebiche back home, this stuff told us to let it marinade for up to a couple of days, so I cut up some Talipia and got it going.

So for Lunch, Edwar brought some leftover Steak to the table, and I added the Ceviche.

It didn't look like much in the containers, but Edwar's Steak was very good (he bought a new knife, and was very excited) and once I got past what I *thought* the Ceviche should taste like, I decided that it wasn't bad, either.

But it wasn't real Cebiche, not by a long shot.

Rosa was in the office this week, She's Peruvian, and didn't have dinner plans, so we went to Saxsay Cafe on Commercial Blvd. in Tamarac. Loretta and I went there a couple of months ago, and we both liked their food.

Rosa and I started by sharing a Cebiche Mixto.

This was mixed Seafood. I was showing off, so I told the waitress that we wanted it SPICY, and yes, it was.

For our Main Courses, I had a Parihuela (Mixed Seafood Soup), and Rosa had an Aguadito (a different Peruvian Soup).

Everything was delicious. Rosa took half of hers home with her for Lunch the next day. Me, I finished mine.

Later, at home, Frozen Grapes.

Here's Tuesday's steps.
