Need Candy? I know a Guy! |
Caldo de Gallina is, of course, Chicken Noodle Soup on steroids. I entered this random place, sat myself down, and ordered a bowl.
You can't really tell in this photo, but this is a big Bowl of Soup. I'm glad, because it was delicious. Someone had asked about hot sauce here -- the small ramekin with the spoon in the upper right corner of the picture is Rocoto - diced/minced Hot Pepper. A few drops goes a long way.
The restaurant was right next to the Optical Hospital, so I popped in and got an eye exam and ordered new glasses. It took an hour, cost $12 for the exam and $86 for two pairs of Bifocals. They will be ready Monday. Here's my prescription, in case you want to buy me a Christmas present.
After that, I went to the wholesale candy place to stock up for the Kid's Party on Saturday. I wound up getting 380 units of various candy for 220 Soles ($68). An excellent deal.
I had no set plans for Dinner, so after a couple of small sandwiches at the casino, I had Luis pick me up and we decided to forage for food.
We wound up at El Bodegon (the place Bertha and I went to on Monday). We ordered a lot of different things. The Sandwiches from the Casino are first.
From the top, there is a Pastel de Choclo (Ground Corn over Meat and Spices), Tallarin Saltado con Chicharron de Pollo (Stir-Fried Noodles with Tomatoes, Onions and Fried Chicken Chunks), Aguadito (my second Soup of the day, with Cilantro, different Diced Meat, and some flavor I can't decribe very well), and a Rocoto Relleno (Hot Stuffed Pepper).
In what is becoming a disturbing trend, I did not finish every bite on our table.
That's it for the day... I have Dinner plans with three women in a fancy place tomorrow!
