Sunday, October 5
Brian and I had coffee and lolled around the house in the morning. I had Big Plans.
He mentioned that he always like a good Burger, and was often disappointed. I headed off that problem by taking him to Georgie's Alibi on Wilton Drive. They've won the Best Burger in Lauderdale a couple of times, and everything there is good. It's often fabulous as well, but the food's always great.
We started with Onion Rings for Brian and Clam Chowder for me.
Brian has taken to Blog Photos like a fish to water. My Chowder was excellent. It actually had Clams in it. I had one of his Onion Rings.
Then our Burgers arrived. I don't remember which ones we ordered, but Brian had the 2011 winner and I had the champion from 2012. Or it was the other way around.
He loved his Burger, as did I. I polished off my Sweet Potato Fries (with Mustard).
Some time in the afternoon, I had a Bowl of Watermelon.
We had tickets to see Peter Frampton at the Hard Rock in the evening. Any time I'm in that part of town, I go to The Hot Pot. Brian was game.
The deal there is that you order two different types of Broth (out of four choices), and then you order whatever you want to put inside your Soup, and toss it into the Broth... it's pretty wonderful.
We were served by the lovely Katerina, and went for the two different spicy Broth choices, as well as a busload of stuff.
In tonight's Hot Pot, there were Noodles, Pork Dumplings, String Beans, Garlic, Napa Cabbage, Beef, Broccoli and Pork. For the Dumplings, they just give you the stuffing, and you make your own balls and toss them in the Soup... sort of like Dumpling Balls or something.
Apparently, Brian had a Secret Dumpling Talent. They came out much better than the last time I tried it.
We both loved our Soup, and in a shocking development, I Had Too Much to Eat.
The concert was pretty great. Here's Frampton without all the hair from his famous album cover.
That was it for the day. Here's my steps.
Monday, October 6
On Monday, I was too busy to eat, not that I would have eaten much anyway. At around 10:00 pm, I bought a Roasted Chicken from Winn-Dixie, of all places.
Amazingly, it was much better than I had hoped it would be. Go figure.
Here's Monday's steps.
Rich,
ReplyDeleteCan you eat a whole chicken and go right to bed? Your stomach must be made of titanium.
Javier
I went to sleep around 1:00, but yes, I could have passed out right after and slept like a baby.
DeleteYou are blessed with having a strong stomach. I would have woken up in the middle of the night in search of Gas-X.
