LIMA DAY 5: Ceviche and Ed

Monday, May 16

I worked all morning and didn't leave the house, so I ate the leftover Rice (from the Rice with Duck) from Sunday.

Alex and I had plans to go to Punto Norte for Lunch. I had a reservation, and a discount certificate and everything. We drove all the way downtown and the place was... closed. it turns out that the owner's wife up and died the night before. Fair enough.

We drove aimlessly and wound up in the hood in front of Cevicheria La Casa de Edith. It looks just like all the 76983794672 other streetside Cevicherias in Lima, except this one was full of people. It turned out that they knew what they were doing. We parked and bribed a guy in the street to watch Alex' car.

They put out some Chifles, and I started with a Leche de Pantera, which is a mini-Ceviche made with Conchas Negas (black clams). They rock.

For our Main Courses, Alex had a Fried Fish Filet, and I had a combination Mixed Seafood Ceviche and Fried Assorted Seafood.

Alex said the Fish was fresh and very good. Aside from being HUGE, my stuff was excellent. And it should be -- I went top-end. This was 11 bucks.

Luis and I went to the airport to pick Ed up in the evening. We got there early, and went to the food court and had Gelato at 4D.

I had Chocolate and Coconut; Luis had Mango, I think.

We found Ed, got him checked into the hotel, and we decided to get a Steak before gambling. We went to Patagonia, which is right in the neighborhood and always has good food, if not the best service. Today, bot the food and the service were fine. Ed had a straight up hunk of beef, and I had mine Au Poivre.

That was it for the day.
