OK, so they celebrate Christmas here on the 24th. Dinner at midnight, Fireworks, Gifts, stores all closing... all on the 24th.
I had some Frozen Grapes in the morning.
Fernando and Goya had invited me to Goya's mother's house for Christmas with their family, so I needed to bring a cake. They didn't tell me to bring a cake... I just like bringing cakes.
So I went to the supermarkets to see the choices. While I was choosing, I wound up buying two Chocolate Croissants at Vivanda, and then, at Wong Supermarket, I sat down and had a Cafe con Leche with a piece of Chocolate Cake.
It was Chocolate Day, apparently. I wound up buying a Chocolate Turron to take with me later.
In my travels, I also picked up two small packages of Smoked Sausage, and two Chicken Sandwiches. I had those for Lunch, along with a bag of Chips and more Frozen Grapes.
Then I had nothing for a while. The festivities didn't even start until 9:30 at night.
I get there, visit, and practice my Spanish. Of the 13 people there, four others spoke some English, so I hadpeople to help me when I got confused by the fast-spoken Espanol.
Fernando slaved all day, working on the Turkey and all the side stuff.
We started (at Midnight) with Tamales.
Then I had two plates from the Buffet.
Then we exchanged gifts. I got a Soccer Jersey!
Finally, it was time for the Hot Chocolate and Panetton. I passed on the Panneton, and had some of the Chocolate Turron. It was good, and very Brownie-like.
And then, at 2:30, Fernando's brother drove me home.
I don't have a picture of my steps, but according to the app on my phone, my count for Wednesday was 14,757 steps.
What is the brown serving on your dinner plate?
ReplyDeleteThat was the stuffing. Fernando went all out and made it inside the Bird.
DeleteHe called it the "Relleno."
Thanks. It looked like ground beef.
