Hi. I just got back from Lima, where things are slowly getting back to normal. I spent time with some of the people from our Kid’s Christmas Party group, and we decided to go ahead with plans for this year.
To catch everyone up, for a bunch of non-pandemic years, I’ve gone with some great people a couple of hours out of Lima to, well, hell, and we throw a party for the kids in the neighborhood. We show up and the kids get Cake, Candy, Chocolate Milk (it’s summer in December down there), a show, a wrapped present and each one receives a book to read as well. Everybody (grownups and kids) has a great time and we get lots (LOTS) of tiny little smiles. A ton of them. I am attaching photos from a previous party. The date this year is Saturday, December 17. We are budgeting for 300 kids this time.
How can you help, you ask? First (and best) would be to join me in Lima for the party. Hit me up if you want to know about travel or housing or restaurants or anything. One of my friends has already bought her plane ticket to go this year!
If you can’t make it, well, we could use your money. Any amount of it. American dollars go a long way down there, and I will make sure that it gets used efficiently. I will pick up the cost of any paypal fees, so 100% of your money will go to the kids. Prices have gone up slightly here, so we are budgeting a little more than in 2019 for the party. Additionally, we decided that – if we can – we want to add some basic sundries to our haul (soap, shampoo, etc.), so we added a line item for that as well. Here's a copy of our budget.
