Tuesday: Not Much to See Here

I was still full from all the Sushi on Monday night.

A Bowl of Watermelon.

Some Frozen Grapes. The giant Grapes have seeds, so that severely slows down the eating process. But they are delicious.

For Lunch, I felt like I should eat something, so I got 10 ounces of Turkey at Albertsons and made Roll-Ups with Mustard.

Later, another Bowl of Watermelon... that's it.

Monday: A New Week

I sit around every Monday night deciding what I'm going to have for dinner. BBQ? Sushi? Pizza? Cook at home? Seafood? Wings? Soup? I usually wind up buying Vegetables and going home and cooking Fish.

Not tonight. I went to Benihanas for Sushi. I ordered a lot of it. First they give you Soup and Salad.

I forgot to take a picture of the Salad. But you know what a Salad looks like. Then they brought me Sushi.

It turns out that this was two and a half pieces of Sushi more than I can fit into my stomach.

At home, watching the Rams give away a game that they could have won, I had two bowls of the Giant Grapes. They have seeds, but if you let them soften a little, they're workable. And they're huge.

Sunday: Loretta & Hockey...

...And Watermelon.

I went to Loretta's house in the morning. We went to a Bagel store for Breakfast/Lunch at around 11:00

I had an Omelet.

Egg Whites, Onions, Mushrooms, Tomatoes. No Cheese. It came with a side of Well Done Home Fried Potatoes. The Omelet was good, and the Potatoes were outstanding.

Loretta had some sort of Salad.

I went to the Panthers Hockey game with Caleb and Lonnise. The Panthers lost in overtime. Not being a millionaire, I didn't eat anything at the game.

On the way home, i stopped at Albertsons. The Grapes were huge and still on sale; I bought some to freeze for later in the week. I also bought some Watermelon, and I had a bowl when I got home.

When I put the extra Watermelon away, I saw that I still had the Vegetables left from when I made the Fish on Wednesday night, so I heated that up, too.

That's it, except that I will probably have some more Grapes before bed.

The Fifth of My Seven Favorite Days of the Year...

...another Hurricanes home football game.

I had a Bowl of Watermelon this morning.

Jeff and Mari met me at the office and we left for the game. As is our custom, we stopped at the Sub Shop on Ives Dairy Road and State Road 7 to gear up.

I got my standard... Turkey on Whole Wheat with lots of Mustard and a mess of Vegetables. No Cheese, no Mayo.

Mari & Jeff liked theirs, too.

Right after we ate, the band and cheerleaders came by. I photobombed the cheerleaders. It's amazing the stuff you can do when you Just Don't Care.

The Hurricanes won 24-21, and for the second week in a row, in dramatic fashion.

After dropping everyone off, I had another Bowl of Watermelon, and then at around 10 pm, I had some Frozen Grapes.

Friday - 10/25

Watermelon Season is soon ending. I have to get it while I can.

Bowl of Watermelon.

Another Bowl of Watermelon.

Around 1:00 pm, I went to Subway to get a sandwich.
It was my standard Sub: Wheat Bread (hollowed out), Turkey, lots of Vegetables, Mustard. No Cheese, no Mayo.

In the office, Toni offered me some 'Golden Grapes.'

I had never heard of Golden Grapes before, but they were pretty good. They're no Concord Grapes, but what is? By the way,Toni says that they have Concord Grapes at Publix -- I will have to investigate.

Later, at home, I had a lot of Frozen Grapes.

Back at the office later that night, Sergio stopped by with some almost-Frozen Grapes of his own, and we split a Green Pepper.

A Bowl of Watermelon

Another Bowl of Watermelon

For Lunch, I went to the Chicken place on Commercial... the place with the name that I can't remember. I think that they are under new management... the old guy in front is a different old guy.

I ordered the Chicken Bowl.

White Rice, Black Beans, Tomato and Chicken Breast. I added Hot Sauce.

Lonnise and I went to dinner at Saigon City; we had a Groupon.

We started with the Spring Rolls. I had one and a half.

I had the Pho Soup with Sliced Roast Beef. Delicious.

Lonnise had Shrimp Something in Something Sauce. She said that it was really good.

Later that night, at home, I had some Frozen Grapes.

Saturday, Oct. 19 - New York City - One Day of Glory

I woke up early at Anna & Michael's house. Anna was feeding some combination of kids Waffles... she whipped them up from scratch.

She knew I would pass on the Waffles, but tried anyway. When she gave up, she said, "Richie, have you ever had Concord Grapes?" When I said I hadn't, she trotted out a bowl of those babies.

I'm not really sure how to describe these, other than: Better Than Any Grapes I Have Ever Eaten. The only downside to them was the pits. They are worth putting up with pits. Absolutely shocking, how good they are.

Michael and I were going to do something in the afternoon before the reunion, but he wound up sleeping in. I decided to go for a walk in Park Slope.

They live off of 7th Avenue, which is a busy commercial area in Brooklyn. I invented the First Annual Seventh Avenue Pizza Festival.

There's a pizza place on just about every corner. My original plan was to eat my way all along the avenue.

After the third and fourth slices, I realized that I wasn't going to stop. In a brilliant defensive move, I bought three dozen Cherrystone Clams at a Fish market and rushed back to the house to immerse myself in Clams.

I threw them in a pot and wound up eating twenty-something Clams and drinking Clam Broth all afternoon while watching football. It was delicious, healthy, and filling. I could do that all day.

We got to the Reunion at around 5:00 pm. This wasn't a full-blown school thing, it was just a small group of our group of friends, and a handful of our teachers. We stood around talking for a while, and then went upstairs to eat. They started us with Salads.

After that, they fed us Family-Style. They brought out four platters.

I had three small pieces of Salmon, One Chicken Piccata breast, and a small serving of both the Pasta with Tomato Sauce and the Pasta with Garlic and Broccoli.

We hung out for a few hours, and had a great time.

The party broke up at around 11:30, and I walked Shelley downtown to the Village.

The Village, home of Spain Restaurant.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Northern Hemisphere. It has been unchanged (except the prices) for the last 40+ years. Same Manager, same Bartender, they haven't painted the walls. And they were happy to serve me at midnight.

As soon as you sit, they bring you a Salad.

Along with the Salad, they also force some free Appetizers on you.
That's Mussels, Sausage, and Lamb Ribs. I ate them. I would eat them if I was in a coma.

Since I was alone, and it was Midnight, and I had already eaten 5348690384 times, I only ordered one main dish... Paella.

This Paella had Shrimps, Clams, Mussels, Sausage, and Chicken. I just love this. My parents used to take me there for this when I was 8 or 9 years old. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't finish it, and brought some home for Michael.

Quite a day. Any one thing would have made it memorable, and I did a lot of things. What a day.

Wednesday - Free Fish!

Right out of the box: A Bowl of Watermelon.

Two more of the Green/Red Peppers that I bought Monday night.

Around 11:00, I nuked a package of Asparagus.

They were great. Larry had three, but I ate the rest. I topped that off with another Bowl of Watermelon.

Around 1:30, I nuked up the rest of the Vegetables from Monday night.

My afternoon snacks were just a few Frozen Grapes and another Green Pepper.

Jeff (at work) likes to fish. I like to eat fish. That's a match made in heaven. Neither Jeff nor his wife are big fans of Redfish, so he brought me a couple of filets.

I trotted out some of my regular Fish prep items and got to work.

There's Diced Tomatoes, Pepper Rings, Capers, Fresh Mushrooms, Yellow Squash and the Redfish. I got cookin' and when it was done, it looked like this.

I ate the two filets and most of those Vegetables. The leftovers went into a container for tomorrow.

Around 11, I had a bunch of Frozen Grapes.

Friday, October 18

I started the day with some Frozen Grapes.

At work, I was starving all of a sudden, so I had a small handful of Peanuts.

Ed buys these Hub brand Nuts by the case. They're really good, and it has -- amazingly -- been about a year since I've had any.

Then, off to the Airport for my High School (fake) Reunion in New York. I got checked in and through security very quickly, so the food court called me. I went to the Pei Wei outlet store.

For absolutely No Good Reason, I ordered two items at Pei Wei: The Chicken Lettuce Wrap and Pei Wei Spicy Chicken with Brown Rice.

Neither of them were very good; in fact, the Lettuce Wrap was pretty horrible. I finished both of them.

I got to New York and to Anna & Michael's house at around 9:45. Michael was out, but Anna (being the good Mom that she is) correctly figured out that I was hungry, and offered to whip up some of the Leftovers from the Meal she had made for her daughters' friends earlier.

She had this Pasta made out of Brown Rice.

It tasted pretty much like Pasta, just maybe a little bit 'heavier.' If I didn't know the difference, I wouldn't have been able to tell, especially with the Sauces that she served with it.

The top one was Mushrooms and Garlic in a Not-Too Creamy Sauce, and the bottom one was Tomato Sauce with (I think she said) Pork. I ate both of them and liked both of them. Anna keeps a house full of food (they have three daughters), but very little of it is prepared. She's always whipping something up, so it's always exciting to sit there and talk to her while she's cooking. She also introduced me to Concord Grapes, but that's a story for another day.

That was it for the day, food-wise. I had to leave room for Saturday and Sunday.

It's Tuesday

I know that I am still behind. Soon, I promise.

Today went well, for a while. I had bought some Green/Red Peppers at Living Green on Monday night.

I had one of them as I was leaving the house in the morning.

When I got to the office, I had a Bowl of Watermelon. Later in the morning, two more Green Peppers.

At around 1:00, I heated up half of the Vegetables that were left from Monday night.

Even more delicious than the night before.

Frozen Grapes got me through until I left work at 7:15.

On the way home, I stopped by the BBQ place on Oakland Park Blvd., between Andrews Avenue and NE 6th Avenue (don't remember the name). I got two pounds of Rib Tips to go.

Yes, two pounds. Yes, I ate them. I didn't use any Sauce.

As I'm typing this, I just broke into another Bowl of Watermelon. That's it.

Monday - Back Home

I know that I owe you guys Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but here's today.

Three Bananas.

A Bowl of Watermelon.

To watch the Giants game, I cooked up a bunch of Vegetables.

There's an Eggplant, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Garlic Cloves and Broccoli to go with cans of Diced Tomatoes, Banana Peppers, Pearl Onions, Capers, Diced Jalapenos, and Mushrooms.

While the Vegetables were cooking, I had two Plum Tomatoes.

Finally, Vegetable time.

I had this bowl, plus just a little more when I packed up the rest for tomorrow.

As I watched the Giants (finally) win a football game, I had two handfuls of Frozen Grapes.
